My farm has had lots of new things since my last post and I am mighty proud of all those things. One of them is a tractor, which I bought recently and then I earned lots of bucks from the harvest (I had written about it in one earlier post along with the news of my goofy old brother throwing a barbecue party for that).
This time, I would love to holler about a newly found friendship with a feller from our clan of farmers. This lad was quite young, however, he certainly knew his farming. It was a delight talking to him and he told me many new developments, some of which I think would end up in making me pink and fats with loads of doe.
Back in June, when I sold of a good harvest of wheat and earned quite some money, I used it to buy a snazzy tractor for myself. This time, though I did not buy anything, but this feller at the market told me about websites which have been formed for helping farmers in deciding about various things ranging from elementary information to advanced information about farming.
Although, all this information is nothing new, however, having all those information in one place where you could go back again and again in order to have the assurance that the money spent in buying expensive fertilizers and pesticides has been a good one, is certainly welcome.
I aint a scientist and neither do I have any scientific streak in me like that feller shown in the movie called 'The Astronaut Farmer'. Hence, websites like these certainly do come in useful in remembering the complex and sometimes irritating names of all those fertilizers and pesticides.
These websites, apart from giving useful information about 'harvest savers' (the name I think is fit for pesticides etc. ) also give information about the current market prices of different crops in the market. Hence, there is no way in hell that anyone now can play smart with good old me when it comes to deciding the price.
I aint gonna name anyone of those websites for one single reason. There is one feller in my place who has all the time in the world to get after my head and, therefore, who knows...he might read this post. I sure wouldn't want to give him this useful information.
